At Savo Store, we understand that the safety of your goods in transit is crucial. Our Shipment Protection Program is designed to provide peace of mind by covering your items against loss or damage under specific conditions.
Buy & Ship Service Shipment Protection
All items purchased under our Buy and Ship service are fully insured against loss or damage while in transit. This is built into the service, ensuring that your goods are safeguarded from the time they leave our U.S. warehouse until they reach you in Kenya.
Shipping Only Service Shipment Protection
For customers using our Shipping Only service, we provide complimentary shipment protection up to $100 of your shipment’s value. This coverage applies automatically and covers loss or damage up to a maximum payout of $100.
If your shipment is valued at over $100, you can purchase additional protection at a nominal cost to cover the full value.
Additional Shipment Protection Costs for Shipping Only service
For shipments exceeding $100 in value, you may choose to purchase additional shipment protection at a rate of 5% of the declared shipment value, with a minimum charge of $5.00. This protects your shipment from the point it leaves our U.S. warehouse until it arrives at our Nairobi office.
Important Payment Notice:
To activate shipment protection, full payment must be made before your order departs the U.S. warehouse. You will need to make the full payment immediately as soon as you receive the full invoice inclusive of shipment protection and freight fees.
Once you opt for shipment protection, this selection is non-reversible, and any payments for this protection are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Termination of Shipment Protection
Shipment protection coverage ends upon:
Collection from our Nairobi office, or
Delivery by our contracted courier, Fargo Courier Limited.
It is important that you verify the contents of your package before departing our Nairobi office, or shortly after delivery by Fargo Courier. All claims for loss or damage must be made immediately upon receipt of your goods.
If you arrange for a third party (e.g., a friend, an associate, a rider, or an independent courier company) to collect your shipment from our Nairobi office, Savo Store will not be liable for any items reported missing or damaged once your agent takes possession of the order. This is specified in our Rider Liability Agreement (Section 5(c) of our Terms & Conditions).
Coverage Limitations
Please note that our Shipment Protection Program does not cover:
Unlisted Items: Our Shipment protection program does NOT cover goods or items that are not listed in your order. When you ship with us, you have an obligation to create an order on our website or to send us an email listing each and every item in your shipment. You cannot make a claim against an item that you had not listed in your order. It is therefore imperative that you ensure that you have listed each and every item in your order. By shipping with us, you agree that shipment protection does not cover any unlisted items.
Prohibited and Restricted Items: Our Shipment protection program does NOT cover contraband goods, counterfeit goods, illegal goods, goods prohibited for transport by the vessel owner (carrier), any goods in our Prohibited items list, edible goods (food items), fragile goods made of glass, ceramics, porcelain, earthenware or stoneware, liquids (including fragrances, and lotions) goods that may get damaged due to pressurization or any goods that may leak or melt on transit.
Goods with Electrical or Compatibility Issues: Our Shipment protection program does NOT cover products that are rendered inoperable in Kenya due to different voltage standards and wireless networking standards (GSM vs. CDMA). The voltage requirement for Kenya is 240 volts. If you purchase and/or ship electronics with us that do not meet this voltage requirement, Savo Store cannot be held liable for any damage resulting from operating them. If you purchase and/or ship a cellular device that ends up not working due to networking standards (GSM vs. CDMA), Savo Store cannot be held liable for this anomaly.
Why Pay for Shipment Protection?
Opting for shipment protection is a simple way to add an extra layer of security to your high-value shipments. Here are a few key reasons why it’s worth considering:
Peace of Mind: Shipping valuables internationally involves multiple handling points and can expose your items to unexpected events. With shipment protection, you gain assurance that, in the event of loss or damage, you have financial recourse.
Comprehensive Coverage: While our Shipping Only service provides complimentary protection up to $100, additional protection ensures that the full value of your shipment is covered. This is especially beneficial for high-value goods that may otherwise be underinsured.
Hassle-Free Claims: Shipment protection simplifies the claims process, as you’re automatically covered up to the insured amount. Should an issue arise, you have the convenience of a streamlined claims process to recover the value of your goods.
Protect Against Unforeseen Events: International shipping can sometimes be affected by circumstances outside our control, such as customs issues, handling mishaps, or unexpected transit delays. Shipment protection serves as a safeguard against these potential risks.
Enhanced Customer Experience: Our Buy and Ship service includes full coverage as a standard benefit, highlighting our commitment to delivering a positive customer experience. With additional protection options available, you can customize your level of coverage based on the specific needs of your shipment.
By choosing shipment protection, you’re investing in added security for your goods, ensuring they arrive safely or that you’re reimbursed if the unexpected occurs. For valuable, fragile, or otherwise irreplaceable items, it’s a worthwhile precaution.
